Dr. G.B. John Mancini is now a tenured Professor of Medicine at the University of British Columbia and directs an imaging-based research program (Cardiovascular Imaging Research Core Laboratory, CIRCL) that includes facilities for quantitative coronary angiography, ultrasound analysis (coronaries, carotids and brachial artery for atherosclerosis and endothelial function assessments) and cardiac computed tomography analysis.  This program has been actively funded for 30 years, originating at the University of Michigan and transferred to UBC in 1992. Dr. Mancini’s interest focuses on the integration of multi-modality cardiac imaging in multicenter clinical trials for assessment of structural and functional aspects of coronary atherosclerosis and for primary and secondary cardiovascular risk reduction. He has published over three hundred journal articles, abstracts, books and book chapters.  He leads the Canadian Consensus Working Group for issues pertaining to statin intolerance and adverse effects.
