Patrick Moriarty is the Director of Clinical Pharmacology and the Atherosclerosis/ Lipid-Apheresis
Center. He earned his Doctorate in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Rome School of Medicine and Surgery in Italy and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and training in Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Dr. Moriarty is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Cardiology, and the National Lipid Association. He is the past president of the International Society for Apheresis and serves as a manuscript reviewer for multiple scientific journals and is the associate editor for The Journal of Clinical Apheresis and Clinical Lipidology. He has authored or co-authored over 100 articles, abstracts and chapters in peer review journals.
His research activities include atherosclerosis, Lipid-Apheresis, vascular
inflammation and hemo-rheology. He has participated in numerous clinical trials related to dyslipidemia, obesity, hypertension, and diabetes.
His clinical activities involve the treatment and diagnosis of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. The University of Kansas Lipid-Apheresis Center is one of the largest centers in North America for the treatment of Familial Hypercholesterolemia.
