Aims to gather leading cardiovascular societies around the globe as Partner Organizations to improve the quality of cardiovascular care, from prevention and diagnosis to patient follow-up.
WHO WE ARE
In 2021, TMA decided to expand its mission to developing “Global Implementation Guidelines” to complement the currently available international and national quality guidelines in cardiology and focus on implementation of best practice throughout the world.
This project, under the umbrella of the iCARDIO Alliance, aims at filling the need for implementation-focused cascade documents, in particular for its members in low resource settings.
OUR MISSION
The aim of the iCARDIO Alliance is to educate doctors and patients about the best practices and latest advances in the field. It also promotes equal access to optimal care for all patients wherever they are in the world.
HOW WE DO IT
The Partner Organizations, under the umbrella of the iCARDIO Alliance, jointly work together to develop the Global Implementation Guidelines (also considered to be global consensus guidelines) that provide guidance, based on an economic cascade approach, to support implementation of best care options in cardiovascular medicine.
ORGANIZATION OF THE iCARDIO GLOBAL IMPLEMENTATION GUIDELINES
Each iCARDIO Partner Organization is invited by the GAB to nominate a candidate member for selected guideline author groups as well as to nominate one reviewer (who will be considered as co-author) for each guideline document (or for selected documents, if the number of Partner Organizations is more than 50 in total).
Diversity is reflected across the iCARDIO Alliance.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
The iCARDIO Alliance is an umbrella association bringing together partners from the four corners of the world. These partners all have a vested interest in cardiovascular care and improving implementation of best practice, no matter what the setting is.
The iCARDIO Alliance contributes to the development of the Global Implementation Guidelines under the leadership of the Guideline Advisory Board (GAB). This partnership is administered by TMA which is the reference for any organizational matters.
The GAB puts into place the Task Forces which develop the individual guideline topics. These Task Forces are led by 2-3 Chairs from different continents and 4 to 5 Co-chairs (all together coming from at least 4 continents) and forming the Task Force’s Executive Committee. The writing team (25 to 30 experts maximum, nominated by the GAB) are composed of no more than 50% of experts coming from Europe and North America.

HOW WE WORK
These Documents are developed using a patient-centric framework. Their authors review existing international, national and regional Guidelines and summarize them with a global three tier approach taking into account the accessibility, availability, and affordability of local resources in their final recommendations. The products of this process are the Global Implementation Guidelines aimed at treating the patients with the best possible care no matter where they are in the world.
OUR MEMBERS
The iCARDIO Alliance brings together scientific societies with a special interest in cardiovascular medicine and related fields, thus promoting a multidisciplinary approach. All partner society members participating in developing the Global Implementation Guidelines are committed, on a voluntary basis, to helping the iCARDIO Alliance with its educational responsibilities.
OUR VALUES
The iCARDIO Alliance prides itself in putting forward the importance of ethical behavior, integrity and educational responsibility in the interest of cardiovascular patients throughout the world.
